Extravaganza that needs 500 planners

Even when I was sitting for the entrance test for SCMS, there was just one event that was being talked about. Sympulse.

I’m from the Middle-East so the concept of a “college festival” was delightfully foreign to me. Over time though, fortunately for me, I became a part of this event.

Sympulse, like most college fests, has the power to bring together people from diverse backgrounds. For me, the experience has been surreal and transformational because I have emerged to become a much more confident person. I now have a deeper understanding of human communication and thereby, the world's market. In simpler terms, Sympulse taught me more than what I could have imagined.

But perhaps the most important part of the festival is the fact that it’s created by students. It presents an excellent opportunity for us to learn and excel in life skills. Honestly speaking, Sympulse makes sure your final year ends with a big bang. So many of us take away some amazing memories.

This year, Sympulse will see its ninth edition; a total of 64 events are scheduled to be held from January 17 to the 21st. It will need strategic planning, exhaustive research and brainstorming from nearly 500 students — no easy task.

The theme of this edition is ‘An Elemental Entourage’, a blend of Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Space. The theme was specifically picked because the five elements symbolise versatility and omnipresence. The theme also reflects the fact that different skill-sets come together to form something bigger.

We hope the addition of a stand-up act will help revolutinise the comedy scene in the country; the Pit Stop and Street Dance events have become something people look forward to anyway. So, it's with excitement and pride that I look forward to Sympulse 2018.
