Academic Cell

The Academic Cell of SCMS Pune is a student-run cell within the college that is responsible for supporting the students in their academics and enhances their academic achievements. The Academic cell provides the students with various opportunities to enhance their academic, management, and public speaking skills.

The cell is responsible for the running of the following boards of the college:

1. EUNOIA:

Eunoia, the Editorial Board of SCMS Pune, is a vibrant collective of skilled writers, meticulous editors, and creative digital marketers. Entirely student-led, Eunoia manages both an online blog and the college newsletter, showcasing a wide range of content. From reflections on everyday experiences to insights on pressing global issues, the board curates thought-provoking pieces that capture diverse perspectives.

2. CONSULTING BOARD

The Consulting Board at SCMS Pune is a student-led initiative aimed at cultivating a deeper understanding of the consulting industry within the campus community. It offers students hands-on exposure through live projects and actively nurtures interest in the field via insightful articles, publications, case competitions, workshops, and year-round events. The board serves as a dynamic platform for aspiring consultants to explore, engage with, and grow in the domain.

3. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ACADEMIC CELL INCLUDES:

The cell is responsible for the following activities:

• Coordinating library portal registrations for students.
• Facilitating student participation in outstation management fests and summits. Developing and maintaining an online portal for past question papers.
• Creating an online repository for subject-wise notes.
• Addressing and resolving academic gaps to support student learning effectively.

4. Academic Cell is responsible for conducting the Intra Business Fest of the College:

Conoscenza saw the active participation of over 100 students, supported by a dedicated organizing committee of more than 30 members across various event and non-event departments, ensuring the smooth execution of the festival.

5. Academic Cell conducts M.Y.L.E: Map Your Life Workshop:

The Academic Cell hosts M.Y.L.E (Map Your Life) sessions, an initiative launched in the academic year 2017–18. These sessions are designed to guide students through the diverse specializations offered by the institution and provide insightful seminars that empower them to effectively plan their academic and professional futures.

WAXING ELOQUENT – 29th April 2024:

Waxing Eloquent was a thought-provoking individual debate competition that invited passionate speakers to engage with some of the most pressing global issues of our time. That edition focused on the motion: "This House Believes That Carbon Neutrality Cannot Be Achieved by Developed Nations." Participants were expected to present well-researched, compelling arguments either in favor of or against the motion, challenging conventional narratives around climate responsibility and sustainable development.

AROUND THE BBA IN 30 MINUTES – 30th July 2024:

To help the incoming batch gain clarity on the academic framework and day-to-day functioning of the institution, the Academic Cell organized its annual orientation event, "Around the BBA in 30 Minutes," on July 30, 2024. The session provided a comprehensive overview of the BBA programme, academic policies, and student support systems.

The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout and active engagement from the new students. It created a welcoming space for them to ask questions, clear doubts, and understand what to expect in the coming years. The interactive nature of the session not only made it informative but also fostered a stronger sense of connection between the Academic Cell and the incoming cohort.

VISTA IIM BANGALORE – 10th–11th August 2024:

Vista, IIM Bangalore's prestigious Young Leaders Summit, was held under the inspiring theme "Transform. Innovate. Sustain." The summit aimed to ignite the minds of future leaders by encouraging them to challenge traditional thinking, embrace innovation, and develop sustainable, long-term solutions to real-world problems. Through a series of engaging sessions, thought-provoking discussions, and interactive events, Vista provided a platform for aspiring changemakers to gain insights from industry leaders, collaborate with like-minded peers, and envision a future rooted in responsible leadership and impactful transformation.

NALSAR DEBATE 2024 – 20th–22nd September 2024:

The Nalsar debate held at the prestigious NALSAR University of Law, brought together top debating talent from across India. With intense rounds of parliamentary debates, participants showcased sharp wit and compelling arguments. The event featured engaging motions on contemporary issues, fostering critical thinking and discourse. Renowned adjudicators ensured fair evaluations, while the lively atmosphere highlighted the spirit of competition. Culminating in a thrilling finale, the debate upheld its legacy as a premier intellectual event.

IIT BOMBAY DEBATE COMPETITION – 18th–20th October 2024:

The prestigious IIT Bombay debate, held from 18th to 20th October, brought together some of the brightest minds in the country in a highly competitive and intellectually stimulating environment. Participants engaged in rigorous discourse, sharpening their critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills—fostering a spirit of inquiry and preparing them for informed, active roles in society.

ATHARV 2024 – IIM INDORE – 8th–10th November 2024:

Atharv 2024, the flagship Cultural, Management, and Literary fest of IIM Indore, was held from 8th to 10th November 2024. Renowned for its excellence and diverse national participation, the fest brought together students from across the country for three days of spirited competition and dynamic cultural expression. Representing SCMS Pune, a vibrant contingent of 40 students took part in a range of business and cultural events, showcasing their talent, creativity, and competitive spirit on a prestigious stage.

PRALYAAN – 16th November 2024:

Pralyaan was a case competition hosted by the Data Science and Analytics Club at the Goa Institute of Management on 16th November 2024. The event challenged participants to apply analytical thinking and data-driven strategies to real-world business problems. It provided a competitive platform for showcasing problem-solving skills and innovative insights.

CONOSCENZA 2024-25 – 14th–17th February 2025:

Organized by the Academic Cell, Conoscenza is the flagship intra-college business festival of Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune. Designed to offer students a hands-on understanding of real-world business dynamics, this initiative bridges the gap between academic concepts and corporate application.

The 2024 edition of Conoscenza, held from February 14th to 17th, embraced the thrilling theme "Battle of the FMCG Giants." Through a series of well-structured departmental activities and dynamic business scenarios, participants had the opportunity to step into the shoes of industry professionals and experience the fast-paced world of business decision-making.

CONOSCENZA’ 2023-24

Conoscenza, the Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies' intra-college business festival, is a project started by the Academic Cell to provide students a glimpse into how businesses operate in the practical world. This year's grand theme was "Battle of the Conglomerates." The intercollegiate management festival was held from February 2nd to February 6th, 2024.

The Academic Cell hosts the “Around the BBA in 30 Minutes” event to give the incoming batch a better understanding of how the college operates and to answer any questions they may have about the institution. On August 11 2023, Academic Cell hosted this event offline. The entire session was seen as a highly effective one with a maximum participation of students that offered us the chance to communicate with the new batch

The Academic Cell planned the BBA in 30 Minutes event to give the incoming batch a better understanding of how the college operates and to answer any questions they may have had about the institution. On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 4:00 PM, Zoom meetings hosted this event. The entire session was seen as a highly effective one with a participation of 170+ students that offered us the chance to communicate with the new class and vice versa.

CONOSENZA 23

The festivities started with a prep day; Day-0. This included the theme unveil i.e., Battle of the OTTs.On the basis of voting through a google form floated among the FYsFestivities started off with the inaugural ceremony of Conoscenza which was graced by the benevolent presence of the Director, SCMS Pune, Dr Adya Sharma. The ceremony included and beautiful performance by Drammebaaz – The Dramatics Club followed by the Event and department heads unveil in form of a Flashmob. Dr. Adya Sharma unveiled the coveted Conoscenza trophy along with formally declaring Conoscenza open. Different companies were allotted to different divisions.After an excruciating course of events on Day1 the associates were instructed to work on a new set of deliverables for Day2. Participants had to prepare pitches, presentations and videos on their respective event-wise agendas The events subsequently were conducted as follows: -Day 3: The event started at 2:30 PM with an ecstatic performance by the music club of SCMS, Pune, Encore followed by various events CEOxMD, Marketing and PR.

TRANSCEND -2023

Transcend is SIBM, Mumbai’s annual intercollegiate festival that celebrates all forms of talent and art. The festival had an array of events in all spheres of cultural activities ranging from Literary arts, Fine arts. Informals and Performing Arts. The event took place in an hybrid format.

“ZEPHYRUS" AND "VAAYU" 2023

Zephyrus is the annual management fest of St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. It included various events which tested the student’s business acumen. Our students took part in Business Personality, HR, Marketing, Branding, Finance, Consulting, Pitching, Entrepreneurship and Treasure Hunt.

ATHARV 2020

Atharv is the annual Cultural, Management & Literary Fest of IIM Indore. It was conducted in offline mode with multiple phases between December 2020 and February 2021 Students took part in various events and displayed great enthusiasm and team spirit throughout the qualifier rounds. Our contingents emerged as’ National Finalists’ in HR, Journalism, Leadership, and Marketing Events.

E-SUMMIT’20:

E-Cell at IIT Bombay organizes It’quiz annual B-Fest known as E-Summit 2020 which was held from 1st to 2nd February 2020 at its campus. E-summit is a conclave of competitions, workshops, panel discussions, and speeches from the biggest names in the world of business. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune, sent in a contingent of 26 students to attend the summit in order to help them evolve as business individuals who can bring in innovative changes in the near future.

ARTHANOMICS 2020

Arthanomics 2020 is an online fest conducted by Jai Hind College in the month of August. Upon a review of the quality of events and past experiences, the Academic Cell formed a contingent of 3 members for this event. The event was held on 14th, 15th, and 16th August 2020 Dhruv Talreja, Divyam Agarwal, and Ananya Vasudeva participated in Stock it Up, The Snap Theory, and Powerplay respectively. Being an online fest, it was one of the firsts of its kind. This fest enabled our participants to make use of their creativity and finance management skills. Over the course of 3 days, our participants learned how to perform with the same enthusiasm and confidence on online platforms as in the real world.

RED BRICK SUMMIT

The red brick Summit is Asia's largest management symposium and the mecca of management fests in India which is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad to amalgamate learning and layout the path of a visionary. Being an international level business fest the competitive spirit among the participants was high throughout the fest. Students made sure to perform with utmost grace and professionalism.

SYMBIOSIS BUSINESS CONFERENCE 2022

Associated with Symbiosis International University is the private college Symbiosis Center for Management Studies (SCMS), located in Nagpur.-

The Symbiosis Conference, a three-day summit was conducted at Symbiosis Center for Management Studies, Nagpur on August 26th, 27th and 28th, 2022. Our Contingent won various events such as Marketing, Finance and Production

SYMBIOSIS BUSINESS CONFERENCE 2022

"Konflux 2022 - Rejoice," the annual flagship event of ICFAI Business School Mumbai. Konflux is an event that helps the mind, actions, and passion all come together through its various sub events. The event provides participants with a platform to display their skills and talent helping them to compete against their competitors.

The three-day festival that took place on 6th, 7th and 8th of January, 2022 includes numerous sub-events in the fields of domain, marketing, finance, HR and much more. The event aimed to help the participants realize their potential and win incredible prizes.

Atharv' 2022:

the largest cultural, literary, and managerial festival in central India, has served as a sign of optimism and a promise of excitement. Students participated in a round of investigative journalism. A research and presentation method in which students participated and a performance by Step Up crew’s consistent and rigorous practices and their exemplary performance helped them secure the third position in Verve.

Description: “Around the BBA in 30 minutes” was an event organized by the Academic Cell for the purpose of providing the incoming batch with a clearer idea about the workings of the college and to clarify any and all queries they had regarding the college and college activities. The following things were discussed about -

• Academic Structure at SCMS - Courses, Specialisation, Credits etc.
• Student Activities and Hierarchy.
• Learning Opportunities beyond Clubs- MOOCs, Guest lectures and online Certifications.
• What is Academic Cell and its functions
• Importance of Online Presence - The benefits of having a profile on LinkedIn, where the students got a chance to clear all the doubts they had regarding the college curriculum and co-curricular activities.
