Conducted under the adept guidance of Dr. Adya Sharma, the Director of SCMS, Pune, and the organizing committee comprising both students and faculty, the event took place on 15th December 2023 starting at 9:30 AM in an online mode. The Conclave hosted Dr. Praveen Goyal as the chief guest, an established academic professional from BITS, Pilani who provided insights on knowledge & research gaps.
The Conclave, themed "Interdisciplinary Innovation in Business and Management: Bridging Knowledge Gaps for a Sustainable Future," received multiple submissions out of which 50 research papers were selected by the distinguished panel of judges.
Research papers hailed from various corners of the globe, including countries such as Qatar, Zimbabwe, and Brazil. The Conclave was an opportunity for students to display their research skills and proved to be a resounding success, leaving the attendees with a fresh perspective on research and academia.
Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies - Pune organized a virtual Digital Marketing Conclave on 4th November 2022 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
Mr. Niranjan Kanade, Vice Managing Director, GO MO group, India and Dr. Maurício Roberto Ortiz de Camargo, Professor Doutor, Fatec Sebrae, Brazil were the Guest speakers.
Mr. Kanade addressed the audience on the topic “Digitization, Automation and Analytics in Marketing” His address was relevant and apt with respect to the current marketing trends especially with Digitization at its core.
Dr. Maurício spoke about “A Brazilian perspective on Digital Marketing” His address was very insightful and informative, especially with respect to the information that he shared about impact of Virtual influencer which is so relevant in today's era.
Under the guidance of Director, Dr Adya Sharma, the overall event went smoothly and was a huge success. There were more than 670 participants and the event was well received by all the participants.
The conclave started off in the morning at 10.15 am with the lightening of the lamp and abrief inaugural address by Dr. Adya Sharma, Director, SCMS Pune. There has been significant revolution in the Indian Financial Sector and the Banking space and is facing a continuous challenge of the rising Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) and further the adoption of IFRS in the Indian Financial reporting arena is creating strides into the way financial reporting shall be done in future. The first speaker Mr. J.K. Vishwanath, Chief Credit Manager of DCB bank Ltd. talked about the rising NPAs and what were the key learnings and implications that could be drawn from them.
Next to speak was Mr. Dhiraj Relli, the CEO of HDFC Securities who talked about the emerging scenarios and current trends in banking and finance. He gave a back drop of the current financial situation in the country Mr. Vivian Pillai started his talk by laying the context of the situation and talked about the adoption of Ind AS which is more or less relating to IFRS and all Indian companies would have to follow it by April 2017. Mr. Sumit Srivastav talked about the technical disruptions in banking. He talked about the four critical factors – Cost of acquisition, Cost of production and distribution, Cost of distribution and cost of compliance. Finally, the conclave came to an end with Mr. Shreyas Petkar summarised the ideas of all the speakers and laid stress on being a specialist and not a generalist. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune had its Environment Conclave on the 29th July 2017, Saturday. The students from all the three batches started assembling in the auditorium by 10:45AM. The event began as soon as the guest speakers for the day, Dr. P Lakshminarasimhan, Scientist ‘E’ & Head of the Office, BSI, Western Regional Centre, Pune, Dr. P. S. Bhatnagar, Scientist ‘D’ & Head, Zoological Survey of India, Western Reginal Centre, Pune, Dr. J. Jayanthi, Scientist ‘D’ Botanical Survey of India, Western Regional Centre, Pune and Dr. Mandar Datar, Scientist ‘C’, Agharkar Research Institute, Pune arrived on stage. After the customary tradition at SCMS of lighting of the lamp by the Director and all guests, Dr. Adya Sharma, Director, SCMS-Pune felicitated the guest speakers with a sapling, as a token of appreciation.
Post felicitation, the Keynote Speaker for the day Dr. P Lakshminarasimhan took the podium to address the audience about ‘Biodiversity with reference to human and environment interaction’ through his presentation. Following this, Dr. P. S. Bhatnagar gave his speech on ‘Biodiversity (faunal diversity) conservation and sustainable utilization.’ Dr. J. Jayanthi took the stage next and enlightened the audience with her knowledge on ‘Biodiversity (floral diversity) conservation and sustainable utilization.’ The final speaker, Dr. Mandar Datar engaged the gathering with his swift speech on ‘Changing Plant diversity of Pune and factors affecting the changes.’ Students were also encouraged to have a look at the illustrious display of posters related to the environment and fossils brought in by the Scientists set up in the SCMS Lobby. The programme ended at 1PM with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Nitin Mahankale. All the Faculty Members and all students of SCMS attended this event
Marketing conclave 2018 was organized at Symbiosis Center for Management Studies, Pune on 13th July 2018. It got great response from students and academicians. The guest speaker for the event was Mr. Biju Dominic who is a CEO and Co-founder of Final Mile Consulting, a Chicago and Mumbai based consulting firm. He was felicitated by our director Dr. Adya Sharma.
Mr. Biju talked about the paradigm shift in Consumer Behaviour. He explained beautifully the transition that is required in advertising industry from traditional consumer behavioural approach to behavioural architecture. In the end, Head Placement & Corporate Relations, Dr. Ashutosh Mathur declared the results for the online marketing quiz and delivered a vote of thanks. All the Faculty Members and all students of SCMS attended this event
Symbiosis Center for Management Studies –Pune had oganised their ‘ International Business Conclave’ on 19th July’2019. The Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker for the conclave was Dr. Naushad Forbes , Co- Chairman , Forbes Marshall.
The theme for the IB Conclave was – INDIA’S WORLD: CAN WE MAKE THE 21ST CENTURY OURS
Dr.Naushad was an occasional Lecturer and Consulting Professor at Stanford University from 1987 to 2004 where he developed courses on Technology in Newly Industrializing Countries. He received his Bachelors, Masters and PhD Degrees from Stanford University.
In recognition of his services to Industry including teaching and research in Industrial Engineering, Naushad Forbes was awarded the Doctoral Degree honoris causa by the School of Social and Political Science from the University of Edinburgh on 8th July 2019.
Dr.Naushad is on the Board of several educational institutions and public companies. He is the Chairman of Centre for Technology, Innovation and Economic Research in Pune.
Dr.Naushad has long been an active member of CII and has at various times chaired the National Committees on Higher Education, Innovation, Technology and International Business. He was President of CII from 2016 – 17.
His address , major findings and opinions for making the 21st Century ours was very insightful and remarkable especially the learnings that can be drawn upon from the global leaders of the past.
The session was highly interactive as the students asked many relevant questions about the future of India and had received highly satisfactory answer from Dr. Naushad Forbes.
Entrepreneurship Conclave 2021 covering the topic “The Changing Dynamics of Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurs During Covid-19” was conducted by Mr. Satanik Roy, Founder & CEO of HyperXChange and Ms Nishita Baliarsingh, Co-Founder & CEO of Nexus Power on 22nd October 2021 It was facilitated by Dr. Ashutosh Mathur and Dr. Sabiha Fazalboy, under the guidance and insights of director, Dr. Adya Sharma.
The speakers enlightened the students on the importance of entrepreneurial spirits and the challenges young entrepreneurs faced. They also addressed students' queries related to issues like funding, management, sustainability, and many more. The conclave gave the students in depth insights to build upon while launching their business idea.
